Compressor On Fire
Stacks Image 606
I set off for Mario’s in a panic, the compressor has died. There is smoke pouring out of the compressors and I thought they were on fire. He calms me down, parks me in the shade and tells me to take the compressors to pieces. Having spent some time trying to fix the quick couplings this turns out not to be so difficult. Christine and I pull it apart. The wire form the main switch to the relay switch has burnt out, it is too thin and lying on the hot compressor so the insulation caught fire. I have thicker wire and blue crimps and it is repaired in no time. When putting it back I put all the wires near the compressor into a plastic protective sleeve and try and cable tie it off the hot compressors. Tidy up the relays so they do not bounce about or lie on the compressors. Hopefully this will sort out the compressors once and for all.
