Broken Hangar

The previous day there had been a loud crack of metal breaking and I had not been able to find a cause. I did a crawl through and found no problems. The suspension seemed noisier than normal when going over rough roads. Christine felt there was no change.

I was walking back from the toilet at Serondela, in Chobe, when I noticed the bushes seemed to have been smashed and dropped. I had a closer look and found a broken hangar.

We limped back to camp down the best roads at 20 kilometres an hour. Then next morning headed for Kasane , 45 kilometres away, at 15 kilometres an hour. Found the elephants on the way.

We had to camp near the Toyota Gararge who were moderately helpful and said the parts were available in Johannesburg but said they could fix it in 5 day after the parts arrived

Went to Mario's garage who fixed it with non Toyota parts today and he says they are better as you can grease the bushes and they will "never break". He is a great mechanic and a dieing breed. He fixes all the cars that do not plug into computers. Gave us good travel tips. Cost was 840 Pula including a greasing, spare parts and labour.

5 Stars for Mario's Garage
